| Description: | Adyar, a Chennai neighbourhood steeped in history, has hosted a myriad of cultures and civilizations. From the Pallavas to the Portuguese, Dutch and Armenians. It has also witnessed two significant battles between the Pallavas and Chalukyas, and later between the forces of the French East India Company and the Nawab of Arcot. Its streets echo with the footsteps of legends - from Cosmonaut Rakesh Sharma to M.S. Subbulakshmi, Rajnikant to Annie Besant and many more. Yet, as time passed, these stories began to fade, due to rampant overdevelopment. Federal Bank, deeply rooted in Adyar's community, felt a duty to preserve these narratives for future generations. Determined to preserve its rich cultural tapestry, we launched the "I am Adyar, Adyar is me” initiative. We transformed our branch into an art gallery, where local artists immortalised Adyarites and their tales about the place. For four weeks, these portraits and narratives adorned our walls, breathing life into forgotten stories. This groundbreaking event garnered attention from local media, amplifying the stories of Adyar across Tamil Nadu, ensuring they live for generations to come. |
